After receiving her B.F.A. from Parsons School of Design, Jean Tuttle based
her studio in Manhattan for the next twelve years. She currently lives and
works in Denver, CO.
Jean first became known for her hard-edged, high-energy scratchboard style. She was among the first to switch over to the computer in the late 80's, and
at present creates all of her work using Adobe Illustrator software. While
her illustration style has evolved along with the technology, her approach to
problem-solving and strong sense of design has remained a constant.
Over the years Jean's work has won numerous awards, including recognition
from American Illustration, How, Print, The Society of Publication
Designers, and a silver medal from the Society of Illustrators. Her work has been featured in IDEA magazine (Japan), Step-by-Step
Electronic Design, The Illustrator Wow! Book, Illustrator Illuminated, and
other publications.
Jean's client list includes AT&T, American Express, Business Week, Hasbro, Lucent Technologies, Moosehead Breweries, Reebok, Time, The New York Times,
The Wall Street Journal, and the United States Bureau of the Census, for whom
she designed the icons appearing on the Year 2000 census form.
